She Ruined Our Lives is 99 Cents This Weekend (October 16-18)!

Big news!  Level Best Books has started a “Publisher’s Special” series to profile some of its novels.  Every weekend, the first chapter of a mystery is released for free to subscribers of their First Chapter Friday Club.  But you don’t have to be a subscriber to enjoy their weekly Kindle Exclusive deal– the e-book in question will be for sale, discounted at 99 cents on Amazon!

And this weekend, my novel She Ruined Our Lives is available for 99 cents!  The sale runs Friday to Sunday (October 16^th-October 18^th), so don’t wait!  If you haven’t started reading the adventures of Funderburke & Kaiming yet, this is a great time to start!

Though it’s the second book in the Funderburke & Kaiming series, it can be read as a standalone.  You don’t have to read Ghosting My Friend, the first book in the series, first in order to understand the characters and backstories.

Here’s the description of She Ruined Our Lives:

Layla Dolak blamed her sister Erika for destroying all of her hopes and dreams. Over the past several years, Layla was kicked out of college, had most of her possessions and all of her hair stolen from her, and was about to lose custody of her daughter. And Erika, in Layla’s mind, was responsible for all of that. So when Erika died suddenly, Layla thought she might have a chance at the life she wanted again. That changed when Layla’s young daughter, Juniper, accused her mother of murder.

Juniper asked Nerissa Kaiming and Isaiah Funderburke, who provide support for children in crisis her school, for help, and the sleuthing duo started looking to see if there was any truth to the allegations. Nerissa and Funderburke usually work as a team, but this case sees them following different investigative pathways as they unearth long-buried family secrets that could potentially obliterate the remains of an already fractured family.

Please take advantage of this terrific deal, and if you like She Ruined Our Lives, please leave a review and check out the other books in the series, Ghosting My Friend, Well-Behaved Children Seldom Make History, and just released this week, Teachers Who Hate Students!

Thanks!

Teachers Who Hate Students Has Been Released!

Teachers Who Hate Students Has Been Released!

My fourth and latest Funderburke & Kaiming novel Teachers Who Hate Students has been released from Level Best Books!  Here’s the description:

Is Funderburke’s fourteen-year-old half-sister Blaze an arsonist? Blaze has been kicked out of three schools, and all of her teachers say she’s a troubled, angry, potentially dangerous girl. So when multiple cars are set aflame in the school parking lot, and a witness identifies Blaze as the culprit, the authorities are poised to toss Blaze into an institution for disturbed children. Funderburke is inclined to think the worst about the half-sibling he’s never met, but when their mother begs him to take the case, he and his girlfriend/investigative partner Nerissa Kaiming start digging, and quickly discover a mountain of secrets that influential people hoped would stay buried forever. As scandals are revealed and bodies pile up, Funderburke and Nerissa try to clear Blaze’s name despite the efforts of some powerful enemies. Unfortunately, this case may not just wreck their careers… it could destroy the Kaiming family.
